Mediation in Planning is owned and run by Rob Garnham, with over 25 years local government political experience and who has also worked at Westminster level.

As one of Gloucestershire's most high profile politicians, he led the Scrutiny Inquiry into the 2007 flooding emergency feeding directly into Sir Michael Pitt's national review of the 2007 floods.

He was Chairman of the Gloucestershire Police Authority for 5 years, and the national Chairman of the Association of Police Authorities for two years, working closely with central government and Home Office officials. He is an associate member of the CIPD and a former Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.

Rob has tremendous experience of determining planning applications. He served on the planning committee of Cheltenham Borough Council from 1996 to 2014 and had previously been the Chairman for a period of 4 years. He also served on Gloucestershire County Council's Planning Committee from 2001-12.

Rob served as a Councillor on Tewkesbury Borough Council from 2015 to 2019 and was Chairman of the Licensing Committee and a member of the Corporate Investment Board.

He has a wealth of public relations and media experience, acting as the main spokesperson on flooding, policing and planning issues. In addition, he has been a commentator on local government and policing in the press, radio and television.
